If you are a fan of death, illness, madness and despair then rejoice as the Darkest Dungeon 2 is hitting early access release today. To many fans’ disappointment, the early access phase is exclusive to the Epic Games Store, so if you were hoping to play it on steam then you’ll have to wait. For those of you who are not familiar with the original, the Darkest Dungeon 2 is a turn based, rogue, dungeon crawler. You put together a group of adventures and lead them, most likely, to their untimely demise. When your characters die, they die and there is no bringing them back, meaning you have to recruit and level new members to replace them.

The first instalment was extremely popular, breaking new ground with its game mechanics which meant characters would pick up illnesses, injuries, and negative and positive personality traits as they battle their way through the game’s dungeons. The characters then needed to be nursed back to health and a good frame of mind when they return before being sent back off again. The Darkest Dungeon 2 continues these mechanics along with new additions of carriage rides, dungeons and adversaries. Feel free to check out the trailer above for more information.
