This week we have a spooky Halloween special for you, in the form of a fabulous prize giveaway! We have a copy of the Simon Marsden 2017 calendar available for one luck winner, keep on reading and enter our Rafflecopter giveaway below!
The late, great, Simon Marsden was a talented photographer specialising in Gothic and supernatural subjects including (but by no means limited to) graveyards, ruins, and moonlit abbeys. His photography had a haunted, vintage quality, that really drew out the unique characteristics of the sites, structures, and statues he photographed.
While his work has become extremely popular among Gothic and supernatural enthusiasts, Marsden also is also greatly admired for the technical excellence of his images, and examples of his work are held by the Arts Council, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Saatchi Collection, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, and the J Paul Getty Museum in Malibu.
“It is not my intention to try and convince you that ghosts exist,” Marsden said, “but rather to inspire you not to take everything around you at face value. I believe that another dimension, a spirit world, runs parallel to our own, and that sometimes, when the conditions are right, we can see into and become part of this supernatural domain. The mystical quality of my photographs reflects this ancient order and they attempt to reveal what is eternal.”
Influenced by the works of Edgar Allan Poe, MR James, and Arthur Machen, it’s hardly surprising that Marsden’s photographs posses an ethereal, otherworldly quality. Collected in a stunning calendar, Marsden’s photographs can now grace your walls year round with images of the spooky, mystic, and macabre. And luckily for you, we have a copy to give away!
