The new year and decade is nearly upon us, so here is a small selection of some of the games that 2020 has in stall for us.
Ori and The Will of The Wisps- 11th February – XBoxOne, PC
The original game released back in 2015 was a real work of art as well as one of the best Indie platform game of this console generation, so get ready for the next instalment due for release in February. From the trailers released so far, it is looking to be every bit as beautiful and challenging as the first game. If you are a fan of traditional platformers this is the title to wait for.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake – 3rd March – PS4
Final Fantasy 7 is regarded by many as the best in the Final Fantasy Series, and while numbers 8 to 12 have been given revamps, Final Fantasy 7 is being given a full remake from the ground up. This includes new graphics and an expanded storyline, set to be revealed in a number of instalments. If you are a Final Fantasy fan or if you just like a good RPG then this is one to look forward too.
Fairy Tail 19th March
While I am sure this won’t make everyone’s most anticipated list, as a Fairy Tail fan, I can’t wait for this game to hit the shelves in March. Most of the major characters have been confirmed as playable and the gameplay is looking promising.
Cyberpunk 2077 – 16th April – PS4, XBoxOne, PC
After the success of The Witcher series, this new franchise is high up on many gamers most anticipated lists. The title hit the headlines back at E3 when Keanu Reeves was confirmed as having a starring role. Like TW3 Cyberpunk 2077 will be an open world game set in Night City, a dystopian city with six regions to explore.
The Last of Us Part 2 – 29 May – PS4
After the success of the first game in 2013, many gamers have been anticipating the next instalment in this survival horror franchise. This new game is set five years after the events of the first game and follow the now 19 year old Ellie as she battles against a mysterious cult.
Psychonauts 2 – 2020 – PC, PS4, XBoxOne
This title is far and beyond the longest awaited sequel on this list, with the original game release back in 2005. Fans were give a glimpse of what might be in stall back in 2017 when the PSVR game Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin was released. However, this was not a true sequel as while the original cast returned, the gameplay was all new and designed specifically for the VR medium. Pyschonauts 2 is the true platforming successor to the 2005 original and is set shortly after the events of the VR title.
Well, that concludes my picks for next year’s upcoming title but there are many more. Whatever your gaming taste I hope you find it in 2020. I wish you happy gaming for the coming year.
