The organisers of Capital Sci-fi Con, have been involved in the convention scene for many years, in a non-profit charity capacity.
“This event is organised by a fan for fans and with a twist. Profit raised through the event will be getting donated to Rachel house hospice in Kinross ran by CHAS (Childrens Hospice Association Scotland)… Charity is at the heart of what we do and also bringing communities together to enjoy a fun and safe environment.”
The event will be hosted in Meadowbank Sports Centre on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th February 2016, and it promises a special guest line up from film/tv with signing over the weekend, comic artists/writers, guest talks, Star Wars art exhibition, Guest photo shoots, Cosplay competition (this will take place at 15:00 on Sunday the 28th February on the main stage which is open to all), Rebel Legion UK, 501st, Blast A Trooper, Movie cars, Traders of all types and much more.
Something you don’t usually see at cons, is the package called Meal With The Stars, an opportunity to join the Capital Sci fi Con team and their movie guests for a meal and an enjoyable night of entertainment, on the Saturday night. The tickets are on sale for £40 and include welcome drink, introduction from the organiser and Childrens Hospice Association Scotland representative, 3 Course meal (select choice arranged before event) Sci fi comedy show with Des O’Gorman and Rik Carranza, Charity auction/prize raffle, Music set and Disco. The event is ticket only and of course, you are helping with the fundraising.
Here is the guest list at the moment: Dave Prowse, best known to Sci-fi fans as the dark lord Darth Vader, who we have recently interviewed; Nathalie Cox, well known Guest on the Sci-fi circuit for her role as Juno Eclipse in The Force Unleashed computer game; Pam Rose, who has worked on many great films and TV Series, Star Wars, Space 1999, Batman, Superman; Ross Mullan, who we have recently interviewed, is most famous for his creature work in Game of Thrones starring as The Whitewalker in Seasons 2, 3 and 4 and in Dr. Who as The Silence and The Teller; Virginia Hey, famous for Road Warrior/Mad Max 2, The Living Daylights, Farscape, Prisoner Cellblock H, Dr Who audio book “White Ghosts”; Katie Purvis is known for her role as the maternal Ewok in Star Wars Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983), she also starred in Labyrinth (1986) and played a Gringott’s Counting Goblin in Harry potter; Angus Macinnes who portrayed Gold Leader “Jon Dutch Vander” a pilot in Star Wars: A New Hope and also Judge Silver in the 1994 Judge Dredd film; Nick Joseph is well known for being the Medal bearer Arhul Hextrophon from Star Wars: A New Hope and the HeadHunter from Blakes 7; Andrew Lawden, who in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, played a Naboo soldier , and was the stand-in /stunt double for Qui Gon Jinn, played by Liam Neeson; last but not least, Jimmy Vee, who we have interviewed last year, and who is famous for his many appearances such as the Evil Dwarf in Dark Ascension, Lofty in Pan, Skovox Blitzer, Bannakaffalatta, Alien, Moxx of Balhoon in Dr Who series 2005-2014, as well as Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone and Graske, in the video game “Doctor Who: Attack of the Graske”.
